As fall settles in across the midwest, I’ve been looking for a top quality, vintage shawl sweater – not only to keep myself warm, but also to keep this long torso of mine incredibly stylish. I’ve always found that vintage sportswear from the 1920’s and 30’s peaked my interest. There’s nothing classier than the thick shawl collars, the slim fit and the warmth of high quality materials. I also don’t forsee spending the $1,000+ to buy up a vintage shawl sweater that I would feel very uncomfortable with rotating into my usual daily wardrobe. So I’ve been on a quest to find something similar, made more recently and made well enough to withstand my every day wear and tear. If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them in the comments section below.
This afternoon I went looking for some vintage photos of classic shawl sweaters. I came across this amazing gallery of Major League Baseball players sporting their team’s vintage shawl sweaters. I had to share them because they are beautiful.
